6 Face Treatments for a Youthful Glow

Skin loses elasticity as you age, paving the way for fine lines and wrinkles, increased dryness, and sagging. If you’re observing these effects in the mirror, it could be time to sift through the countless anti-ageing trends and face treatments available in the market.

You might be wondering, “what treatments can make skin glow?” or “what facial treatments can make my skin look younger?” Don’t worry! Turn to this guide on treatments to explore for a youthful, radiant complexion.

1. Chemical peels

Achieve a fresher, more radiant complexion by removing dead skin cells through chemical peels.

Chemical peels remove the top layer of damaged skin to reveal a fresher and younger-looking complexion. They can help treat sun damage, acne scars, and pigmentation issues.

There are three types of chemical peels your dermatologist or beautician might recommend depending on your concerns:

  • Superficial peel: This type uses a mild acid to treat the top layer of the skin and brighten mild discolouration.
  • Medium peel: Using glycolic or trichloroacetic acid, these peels act on the middle layers of the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Deep peel: This causes the most noticeable change in appearance. Deep peels use trichloroacetic acid or phenol to penetrate the middle layers of skin at a deeper level.

2. Microneedling

Microneedling involves using tiny needles to penetrate the top layer of the skin, allowing products to penetrate deeper. Research from Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology confirms the safety and effectiveness of this treatment for addressing minor scarring from wounds, acne, and ageing.

Additionally, studies from Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dermatology and Therapy, and the International Journal of Clinical Dermatology & Research suggest that microneedling can help:

  • Brighten skin
  • Improve the appearance of stretch marks
  • Boost collagen production
  • Promote hair growth

Microneedling requires multiple sessions to achieve optimal results. Your dermatologist or beautician can advise you on the number of sessions you need based on your goals.

3. Laser resurfacing

According to the Journal of Lasers in Medical Sciences, laser resurfacing is one of the most effective facial treatments for skin rejuvenation. This technique uses short, concentrated pulses on sections of your skin. Besides improving your overall complexion, laser resurfacing can also help:

  • Increase energy levels of skin cells
  • Boost collagen
  • Improve blood circulation to the treated area
  • Reduce swelling

4. Dermal fillers

Studies from the International Journal of Molecular Sciences emphasise that the ageing process leads to reduced collagen levels within the skin. This loss can translate to wrinkles, sagging, and other issues. To restore volume and plumpness to the skin, you might need to turn to dermal fillers.

In an interview with InStyle, US board-certified dermatologist Sabrina Fabi explains how this treatment works: “The idea is that hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin, so the greatest emphasis is not just about getting rid of lines and wrinkles but getting really good quality skin to match.”

5. Botox injections

Botox injections have been the most popular face treatment for treating fine lines and wrinkles.

Botulinum neurotoxin, or Botox, stands out as one of the most sought-after face treatments for treating wrinkles. To demonstrate, a survey by the medical journal FACE revealed that among 516 millennial respondents, 92% were aware of Botox, and 21% had used it.

How does this injectable work? When administered into the muscles, Botox causes a blockage of nerve impulses in tissues, leading to a reduction in muscle activity. This form of paralysis results in smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

6. Combination treatments

To achieve a youthful glow from the inside out, explore a combination of different facial treatments. Work with your doctor to determine which options are most beneficial for your skin. For instance, you can apply hyaluronic acid topically as part of your skincare routine while getting routine dermal fillers or Botox injections.

In another interview with InStyle, US-based dermatologist Elizabeth Mullans explains how combining treatments saves precious self-care time. She says, “Combination treatments are on the rise, as people are going back to work and want to feel their best. If multiple treatments can be performed during the same appointment to treat different problems, it only makes sense to maximise your time in the office.”

Additionally, look beyond simply combining face treatments and adopt a holistic approach to achieve that youthful glow. Develop healthy habits like getting adequate rest, exercising, and consuming nutrient-dense foods. Protect your mental health by practising acts of self-love, like journaling or breaking off a toxic relationship.

7. Dental treatments

Did you know that whiter, straighter teeth make you look younger? It’s true, according to Sociology of Health & Illness. A brilliant smile transformation can help you achieve a megawatt glow. Visit your dentist and ask about treatment options to enhance your pearly whites. For example, if you have issues like crooked teeth (which can also add years to your face), inquire about orthodontic solutions like ClearCorrect

ClearCorrect dental aligners can straighten misalignment, gaps, crowded teeth, and more. A proprietary triple-layer plastic, including an inner elastomeric layer, a groundbreaking Performance Trimline, and other customised features ensure your teeth get the treatment they deserve. Don’t discount the difference a new smile can make to your overall features. Take the first step with this smile assessment.

Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for achieving healthy, radiant skin. Consult an expert about these face treatments to target your specific concerns. And make sure you take a holistic and proactive approach to attain that youthful glow.
